Week 1 → Monday, morning
Sorry, sorry!
( Given the circumstances, it's probably suspicious to ask to speak privately where no one else can hear and he knows that... )
I just... don't want everyone to hear, you know? ( He's naive and innocent but he isn't stupid. He's a soldier in an army and one of the best scouts at that when it comes to gathering information! Information is deadly and if you're going to share it, it needs to be controlled. ) What do you want to know?

[As much as he doesn't want there to be any murder, he can't deny the possibility that it may happen before the week is out. There are some real hot heads in this group, after all...]
But...as much as you are willing to share, I suppose. I have been training with the sword for several years, yet I've never heard of a "sword spirit" before. At least, not in such a...literal sense.
[Like not an actual, living, breathing thing...]
Are you normally so...corporeal?
no subject
Oh, but this isn't really normal. I've only had this body for a couple of months. Some of the others have had their bodies for over a year, though!
( Not even a whole year like some of the other spirits. )
no subject
So your body isn't a result of being brought here, then? I had thought your situation might be similar to Bill's.
no subject
( He's never had to really explain this before arriving here so he hasn't quite gotten the gist of this. He crosses his arms and tries to figure out how, )
Where I'm from, there are spirits called "tsukumogami." Tsukumogami begin as normal things like umbrellas and sandals and swords like me. But if they exist for a hundred years and are loved, a spirit is born from the object. Everything is a little fuzzy at first because you're still new... but your spirit gets stronger and more real the older become. That's why it's always good to treat things well because if you mistreat something, it could become vengeful, like the cotton spirits or some of the dolls.
Oh, but even though we exist, not everyone can see us. No one ever saw me for hundreds of years until master found me and used his magic. That's how I got this form before I even came here. I guess master's magic still works even when he isn't here.
no subject
Fascinating...I've never heard of such a phenomenon. Or well...the idea of treating your possessions well is a universal one; personifying them in the sense that if you are kind to them, they will be kind to you. But...to think that it could be so literal is truly quite astonishing! I wouldn't believe it possible were it not for the fact that I have proof staring me in the face.
[Sure, Urashima could be lying, but his profile corroborates his story. So it must be true then.]

Doesn't your sword do the same thing?
( Surely it's saved his life because he's treated it well and it's remained good for him. )
Like this, I can help my master do a lot more than fight. I can help him do chores and play with him too... but even if I didn't have this body, I'd still do my best. It's the same for everything.
( Of course, it seems obvious and simple to him. The idea that things might feel differently in other worlds doesn't really cross his mind. )
no subject
[Unless maybe they do and Eldarians just haven't figured out how to see them yet or something.]
Though I admit, I find myself wishing that was not the case.
no subject
( Because a person who takes care of their weapons is a good person and who doesn't want to meet a good person? Also, it warms his heart a little to hear the Faize cares for his sword. )
no subject
[Younger than him, even!]
no subject
( He beleives this! )
Can I ask you a question now?
no subject
[Faize nods.]
That would only be fair, so ask away.
no subject
What does this mean?
I know what a navigator is.... and a researcher too! But I don't know what the other things are. ( All together, it doesn't make sense to him at all. It looks like a bunch of very big and important words thrown together to mean something very impressive. ) It sounds like you're really successful, though.
no subject
Ah. Well, an engineer is someone who designs, constructs, or maintains...any number of things, really. It's a very broad field with many specific disciplines. Buildings, vehicles, machines, energy systems...the list goes on and on. I myself deal primarily with design and occasionally maintenance, as opposed to actual construction. For the most part, I design spacecraft.
Or rather, I did. I'm on reassignment at the moment, which I suppose is the reason they put that slash there. My job as Calnus navigator is my current occupation, though I am still, first and foremost a part of Eldar's planetary exploration efforts.
[AND HE ALWAYS WILL BE because those are his people. As great as the Earthlings are, they are not his brethren.]
As to what that is...my people find ourselves in need of a new home, as Eldar has only about sixty years before it becomes unable to sustain life. So we are attempting to find our promised land, Lemuria, before that happens. I am part of that initiative.
no subject
So you're really smart! And you can travel in the sky?! I mean, higher than airplanes? ( He's seen airplanes go over the citadel some times but he's never seen anything go higher than that... though, he's heard it's possible in the future based on things on tv and in books. ) Ah...
( But that last part... gets him to make a face, leaning back, and not quite as pleased, )
Can you come to my world if you need a place to stay?
( Can you all just come to earth... )
no subject
[Ugh Urashima, how did you get mixed up in this. Too good, too pure. Faize smiles, somewhat sympathetically.]
I wish it were so simple. But there are quite a lot of Eldarians, I'm afraid. And moving to a planet that is already inhabited could be somewhat...tricky. We do not wish to conquer or invade, after all.
[They aren't invaders, unlike a certain other alien species represented here that we could name!]
But it is kind of you to offer.
no subject
When my brothers come to save us, I'll introduce you to master, okay?
no subject
[He's positive that he can't go back to Urashima's universe with him though. Despite the fact that it would be a million times better for everybody if he did. But it would be a downer to keep talking about that, and they have enough to be down about already.]
Where is your home, exactly? I thought perhaps it was Earth, but...my captain is a swordsman as well, and he has never mentioned anything about Tsukumogamis.
