That part isn't so strange. Because you are correct, I do take care of my sword and so, it takes care of me in turn. But...no matter how well I treat it, it's never going to become a living being. Such a thing is unheard of on my planet.

[Unless maybe they do and Eldarians just haven't figured out how to see them yet or something.]

Though I admit, I find myself wishing that was not the case.

Maybe you can find a sage and ask them to introduce you two. ( It's that simple! ) I bet he'd be happy to meet you.

( Because a person who takes care of their weapons is a good person and who doesn't want to meet a good person? Also, it warms his heart a little to hear the Faize cares for his sword. )

Perhaps I can try and find such a person once we manage to leave this place. Though...if it takes a hundred years, I'm not sure it would work, even if i did find a sage. My sword is not nearly so old.

What does this mean?

I know what a navigator is.... and a researcher too! But I don't know what the other things are. ( All together, it doesn't make sense to him at all. It looks like a bunch of very big and important words thrown together to mean something very impressive. ) It sounds like you're really successful, though.

Ah. Well, an engineer is someone who designs, constructs, or maintains...any number of things, really. It's a very broad field with many specific disciplines. Buildings, vehicles, machines, energy systems...the list goes on and on. I myself deal primarily with design and occasionally maintenance, as opposed to actual construction. For the most part, I design spacecraft.

Or rather, I did. I'm on reassignment at the moment, which I suppose is the reason they put that slash there. My job as Calnus navigator is my current occupation, though I am still, first and foremost a part of Eldar's planetary exploration efforts.

[AND HE ALWAYS WILL BE because those are his people. As great as the Earthlings are, they are not his brethren.]

As to what that is...my people find ourselves in need of a new home, as Eldar has only about sixty years before it becomes unable to sustain life. So we are attempting to find our promised land, Lemuria, before that happens. I am part of that initiative.

I wish it were so simple. But there are quite a lot of Eldarians, I'm afraid. And moving to a planet that is already inhabited could be somewhat...tricky. We do not wish to conquer or invade, after all.

[They aren't invaders, unlike a certain other alien species represented here that we could name!]

Oh. ( Just "oh" and he deflates some, trying to think of a solution. ) There's a lot of room back home. ( At least, from what he's seen. But he's used to a time where things are simpler. He hasn't even seen the modern cities in person, otherwise, he might say something different. ) And the people back home are really smart so I bet they would help.

[He's positive that he can't go back to Urashima's universe with him though. Despite the fact that it would be a million times better for everybody if he did. But it would be a downer to keep talking about that, and they have enough to be down about already.]

Where is your home, exactly? I thought perhaps it was Earth, but...my captain is a swordsman as well, and he has never mentioned anything about Tsukumogamis.
